One of the Primary schools we work with has been featured in an article by the Ipswich Star as part of their series around migrants in Ipswich. St Matthew’s Primary School is one of the most diverse in Ipswich, with pupils collectively speaking 38 different languages. St Matthew’s do brilliant work helping their pupils to integrate, as well as getting parents involved, such as with their Roma Coffee Mornings.
One of our longest running projects, South Street Kids, works with children from St Matthews, as well as others schools in Westgate Ward. We provide free weekly sessions covering film-making, radio, music, and so much more, as well as running trips to places such as The Wolsey Theatre and DanceEast, introducing them to parts of Ipswich they may not usually have access to. We want these kids to have a safe and fun place to be that isn’t school or home, and to have somewhere where they can support each other.
